Sony India has expanded its premium imaging portfolio with the launch of the FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS G Master super-telephoto prime lenses for its Alpha full-frame E-mount system. Sony said the two lenses are the world’s lightest in their respective categories, weighing approximately 994 grams and 995 grams respectively.
The sub-1kg designs are aimed at wildlife, bird and sports photographers, offering greater portability and handheld control. The lenses feature optimised weight balance, three Super ED and one ED glass element, Nano AR Coating II and an 11-blade circular aperture for high resolution, reduced flare and smooth bokeh.
Both models use two XD Linear Motors for fast, precise and quiet autofocus and support the Alpha 9 III’s continuous shooting of up to 120 frames per second with AF/AE tracking. Optical image stabilisation, Active Mode compatibility and coordinated stabilisation further support handheld still and video shooting.
The lenses include four customisable focus-hold buttons, a function ring, focus-range limiter and multiple focus and stabilisation controls. Compatible teleconverters can extend the FE 400mm to 800mm and the FE 600mm to 1,200mm. Both feature dust- and moisture-resistant designs and fluorine-coated front elements.
Priced at Rs 3,10,990 and Rs 4,28,990 respectively, the lenses are available from September 24 through Sony Centres, Alpha Flagship Stores, authorised dealers, major electronics retailers, Amazon and Flipkart.
