Manash Nath transforms Assam’s agriculture with silage and sustainable farming

From the lush green fields of Morigaon in Assam, emerges an inspiring story of innovation and grassroots leadership. Manash Nath, an agro-entrepreneur and social worker, is redefining rural prosperity through his pioneering efforts in sustainable agriculture. A Board Member of Mohabahu Agro Farmer Producer Company Ltd., Manash introduced maize silage—a nutrient-rich fodder that has transformed livestock health and farm incomes across the region. His efforts were honoured with a State Award for Maize Silage by the Department of Agriculture, Assam.

Driven by the belief that farming nurtures communities and regenerates the land, Manash has helped Mohabahu Agro FPC become a trusted name in organic inputs like vermicompost, earthworms, and organic seeds supplied to tea estates, nurseries, and government bodies including the Department of Agriculture, Morigaon.

Manash collaborates closely with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) under MSDE and KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK), enriching his mission with technical knowledge. He actively engages in events like FPO Mela, Agri-Horti Show, and KrishiMela to promote farmer-led enterprises. “Farming is not just about crops; it’s about building communities,” he says. With a vision to inspire a new generation of eco-conscious farmers, Manash is truly cultivating a greener future for Assam.
