Dengue cases in Vietnam’s two largest cities, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, have surged, with Hanoi reporting 72 new infections and 15 outbreak clusters since the beginning of 2025. In Ho Chi Minh City, over 15,500 cases and 10 deaths were reported by mid-July, up 157% YoY. Health authorities are urging the public to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and remain vigilant due to persistent rainy and humid conditions. Dengue is a viral infection spread by mosquitoes and is more common in tropical and subtropical climates. The World Health Organisation reports a dramatic increase in dengue cases worldwide, with the highest number recorded in 2023.
