AkzoNobel’s Project Revive fuels skill development and market growth in Northeast

AkzoNobel India’s Project Revive is more than a corporate initiative—it’s a lifeline for over 800 drug-rehabilitated youth in Assam, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. Launched in 2021, the program teaches decorative painting skills, giving vulnerable individuals a second chance at life while creating a skilled workforce that is reshaping local economies.

The program’s impact is vividly felt in Guwahati, where the growing construction and home improvement markets are benefiting from a surge of trained painters. Businesses and households now have access to skilled professionals, raising the quality of services and driving increased demand in the decorative coatings sector. This ripple effect has also boosted related industries, showcasing the program’s potential to stimulate economic growth.

Project Revive’s journey began in Manipur, expanding to Assam in 2023 and Arunachal Pradesh in 2024. The initiative spans 34 Drug Rehabilitation Centers, providing not just training but also employment and post-program engagement to reduce relapse risks. Recognized with a Special Mention at the 2nd North East CSR Awards 2024, the program reflects AkzoNobel’s commitment to sustainable development. “Project Revive is about more than skill-building; it’s about restoring dignity and inspiring communities,” said RohitTotla, Executive Director of AkzoNobel India.
