All-new Duster from India to South Africa

Renault India has commenced global exports of the all-new Duster, marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to position India as a key manufacturing and export hub within Renault Group’s global network. The first shipment of 750 units of the SUV departed from Chennai for South Africa, with exports to additional international markets scheduled in the coming months. The export launch highlights the growing importance of Renault India in the French automaker’s global operations and aligns with its futuREady strategy focused on expanding manufacturing, engineering and export capabilities from the country. The company said the milestone reinforces India’s role in its international industrial footprint and supports its long-term export ambitions.

Stephane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group India, said the start of exports validates the quality, competitiveness and manufacturing excellence of Renault’s Chennai facility. He noted that India possesses world-class manufacturing capabilities, strong engineering talent, production scale and an evolving logistics ecosystem, making it well-positioned to emerge as a leading automotive export hub. Deblaise added that Renault is working towards its goal of generating €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030. The all-new Duster is the first Renault vehicle in India to be built on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), a flexible architecture capable of supporting multiple powertrain technologies. The SUV has also secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating across all variants and powertrains.

The commencement of Duster exports is expected to enhance Renault’s brand perception in Guwahati and the wider Northeast region. With demand for premium and feature-rich SUVs steadily rising in Assam, the global recognition of an India-manufactured Duster could strengthen customer confidence. Industry stakeholders believe the vehicle’s 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and international market acceptance may help Renault expand its presence in the region’s competitive SUV segment.
