Assam-Based Hospitality Brand Eyes Major NE Growth with Rs 800-Cr Plan

Palacio Hospitality, a premium hospitality brand rooted in Assam, on Thursday announced the launch of its second property in Guwahati.

The new property at Paltan Bazar has been designed to cater to a wide range of guest needs, featuring 83 rooms across categories; over 6,000 square feet of indoor banquet space; a 7,000 square feet rooftop venue and dedicated conference rooms and boardroom facilities

With this addition, the brand now operates three properties overall — two in Guwahati and one in Alipurduar — marking a steady expansion of its footprint in the region.

Alongside the launch, Palacio Hospitality unveiled a Rs 800-crore expansion roadmap, with plans to develop 10 properties over the next decade, primarily focused on the Northeast while remaining open to opportunities across key markets in India.

Strategically located in Guwahati’s central commercial and transit hub, the Paltan Bazar property is designed to cater to the city’s growing demand for quality accommodation, events, and curated dining experiences, driven by increasing business activity and tourism.

Speaking on the occasion, Anup Poddar, chairman, Poddar Group, said: “Hotel Palacio is a brand that has been built in Assam, and that is something we take great pride in. Over the years, we have seen the Northeast evolve significantly — with rising aspirations, better connectivity, and increasing demand for quality hospitality experiences. Our focus has been to grow alongside this change in a thoughtful and consistent manner.”

Our larger vision is to build Palacio into one of the most respected hospitality brands to emerge from Assam, while staying rooted in the region’s identity and values.”

“Guwahati has played a central role in our journey so far, and expanding within the city was a natural next step. Paltan Bazar, given its strategic location, allows us to cater to both transit and destination travellers, while strengthening our presence in the business and events segment,” he added.

Ankit Poddar, Managing Director and Chief operating Officer, Poddar Group, said: “Our Rs 800 crore expansion roadmap reflects a long-term, disciplined approach to growth. While the Northeast continues to be our primary focus area, we are also open to opportunities across other parts of India where we see the right alignment.”

“We are building a model that combines owned assets with hotel management agreements and lease structures, allowing us to expand in a flexible and sustainable way,” Poddar said.

“With our upcoming projects, including the Hyatt Regency Gangtok currently under development, we are working towards building a well-rounded hospitality portfolio across segments and markets,” he added.
