Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi has warned Pakistan that if it continues to host terrorists and undertake covert operations against India, it will have to choose between being a part of global geography or being a part of history. When asked about the army’s preparedness to face future security threats, General Dwivedi made a pointed reference to a shift in India’s strategic posture, addressing a gathering at the ‘Sena Samwad’ in New Delhi’s Manekshaw Centre. The no-nonsense comments came days after the country observed the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, an 88-hour cross-border counter-offensive in which Indian armed forces carried out heavy precision strikes against cross-border terror infrastructure. The Army Chief was clear in his reiteration that New Delhi will no longer exercise strategic restraint against cross-border provocations. Any future state-sponsored aggression from Islamabad will invite an overwhelming, decisive military response which could fundamentally jeopardize Pakistan’s sovereign existence.
