KRAFTON’s BGMI Air hits 10 million pre-registrations ahead of India launch

KRAFTON India has renamed its upcoming mobile game BGMI LITE as BGMI Air after the title crossed 10 million pre-registrations ahead of its planned launch in India later this year, highlighting early consumer interest in the company’s latest gaming offering.

The game is designed to expand access to the core BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) experience through a lighter format that accommodates devices with varying storage capacities. With an initial download size of around 1GB, BGMI Air aims to retain key gameplay elements while reducing the storage barrier for users.

Pre-registrations for Android users opened on Google Play on August 25, 2026. KRAFTON said an open beta would be introduced shortly to gather user feedback and refine the experience. Existing BGMI players will be able to access BGMI Air separately without transferring their accounts.

The development comes as KRAFTON India continues to build its presence in the country’s gaming and esports markets. Its flagship BGMI title has surpassed 260 million downloads, while its portfolio includes Road To Valor: Empires, CookieRun India and Real Cricket. The company has invested over $250 million in Indian start-ups since 2021 and launched a ₹6,000-crore Unicorn Growth Fund with Naver and Mirae Asset.

KRAFTON India is also supporting emerging developers through its Gaming Incubator and KIGI Academy, launched in association with IIT Madras. Further details on BGMI Air will be released through its official Instagram page and other channels.
