Manipal Hospital EM Bypass organised ‘Anveshana – Medical Education for Media’ along with a CPR Training and Awareness Session in Nagaland on Thursday as part of its healthcare awareness and emergency preparedness outreach across Northeast India. The programme brought together specialists from Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, including Dr. Harsh Jain, Senior Consultant – Neurosurgery, Dr. Arya Chaudhuri, Consultant – Cardiology, Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty, Consultant – Emergency, and Dr. Arunava Roy, HOD – Gynaecologic Oncology. The doctors discussed the growing burden of neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, cancer care and the importance of timely emergency response.
The session focused on awareness regarding neurological emergencies, cardiac diseases, cancer screening and life-saving CPR techniques. Participants were also trained in basic life support skills and emergency response methods that can help save lives during cardiac emergencies before medical help arrives. Speaking at the event, Dr. Harsh Jain highlighted the increasing cases of stroke and neurological disorders in Northeast India and stressed the need for early diagnosis and specialised neuro-care. Dr. Arunava Roy said advanced technologies such as robotic-assisted surgeries and minimally invasive procedures are improving cancer treatment outcomes.
Dr. Arya Chaudhuri said cardiovascular diseases account for nearly one-third of deaths in India and stressed that CPR given within the first few minutes of cardiac arrest can significantly improve survival chances. Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty said awareness and training in CPR can help build a more emergency-ready society. The programme also saw the launch of a Media Privilege Card aimed at offering journalists healthcare access and benefits across Manipal Hospitals facilities. In Dimapur, healthcare awareness initiatives and specialised medical outreach programmes are witnessing growing importance as more patients from Nagaland continue to seek advanced treatment outside the state. Healthcare experts said increasing awareness regarding preventive care, early diagnosis and emergency response could help reduce treatment delays and improve access to specialised services for patients from Dimapur and nearby districts.
