A group of 24 senior leaders in Nagaland, including former legislators and bureaucrats, has called for the prompt implementation of the Naga political agreements with the Government of India. They expressed concerns about the delays exacerbating uncertainty in the state. Veteran leader Dr. S.C. Jamir criticized the protracted timeline since the Framework Agreement in 2015 and the Agreed Position in 2017, attributing delays to the NSCN (I-M). He advocated for immediate action, highlighting that the agreements do not encompass sovereignty and indicating that implementation should not require full constitutional incorporation. The forum, led by K. Therie, emphasized the need for a final resolution to empower educated youth and counter the negative impacts of delays. Challenges to the Pan Naga Hoho were raised, with promises of continued pressure on the government for implementation of the agreements in collaboration with civil society and NGOs. The assembly emphasized that further consultations would occur to expedite this process.
