Neiphiu Rio meets Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and discussed the state’s financial position and key development priorities. According to officials, the Nagaland delegation included deputy chief ministers T. R. Zeliang and Yanthungo Patton along with MLA Achumbemo Kikon.

In a post shared on X, Rio said the delegation apprised the Union finance minister about the continued support required for Nagaland’s developmental needs and ongoing projects. The discussions reportedly focused on financial assistance and measures to strengthen infrastructure and growth initiatives in the state.

The chief minister also expressed gratitude to Sitharaman for her understanding of the state’s concerns and for assuring support to Nagaland. The meeting assumes significance as northeastern states continue to seek enhanced central assistance for infrastructure, connectivity and welfare projects aimed at accelerating regional development.
