Reliance Foundation, along with Reliance Retail, Jio and Vantara, has launched extensive relief operations to support flood-affected communities in Upper Assam. The initiative aims to reach around 10,000 families in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts, among the worst-hit areas following severe rainfall and flash floods.
The floods have caused loss of lives, damaged homes and infrastructure, disrupted livelihoods and increased health risks across the region. More than five lakh people have been affected, with significant impacts on essential services, livestock and local communities.
Following an on-ground assessment by disaster management professionals in coordination with district authorities and local stakeholders, Reliance Foundation has initiated relief measures focusing on public health, nutrition, safe drinking water, emergency shelter and livestock protection.
Restoration work at Community Health Centres has begun to help resume healthcare services. The foundation is also providing hygiene and sanitation supplies, along with safe drinking water, to displaced and affected families. Community kitchens are being operated to provide meals to those facing shortages, while dry ration kits are being distributed to ensure continued nutritional support.
Emergency shelter kits containing tarpaulins, groundsheets, mosquito nets, ropes and bedding are also being arranged for families who have lost access to safe housing.
Meanwhile, a 39-member team from Vantara is supporting livestock protection and veterinary services in the flood-affected areas. Reliance Foundation will provide feed support to around 4,000 livestock affected by the disaster, while continuing its efforts to assist communities in their recovery.
