Renault India has refreshed its entry-level hatchback portfolio with the launch of the New Renault Kwid, introducing a simplified two-variant strategy, updated styling and revised pricing to strengthen its presence in India’s highly competitive first-car segment. The company has also rolled out an online sales initiative that offers a ₹15,000 cash benefit on the Climber variant, reducing its effective transactional price to ₹4.99 lakh.
The New Kwid, featuring Renault’s latest brand identity, is now available in Evolution and Climber variants, with ex-showroom prices ranging from ₹4.52 lakh to ₹5.60 lakh under the company’s “All India One Price” strategy. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual and Easy-R AMT transmission. Renault said the refreshed model is designed to simplify buying decisions while delivering strong value for first-time car owners.
Renault India Vice President, Sales and Marketing Francisco Hidalgo said first-car ownership remains a key aspiration for India’s growing middle class and two-wheeler owners seeking an upgrade. He noted that over 4.5 lakh customers have chosen the Kwid since its launch in 2015 and said the latest update builds on that legacy by offering a simpler, clearer and more relevant product proposition.
The hatchback retains its SUV-inspired design with 184 mm ground clearance, a best-in-class 279-litre boot, a 1.0-litre petrol engine, 17 standard safety features including dual airbags and ABS with EBD, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital LED instrument cluster, rear-view camera, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, power windows, power steering, dual-tone interiors and Climber-exclusive styling elements.
In Guwahati, the revised pricing and enhanced value proposition are expected to improve Renault’s competitiveness in Assam’s entry-level passenger vehicle market, where demand for affordable, feature-rich hatchbacks remains robust. Industry observers believe the effective ₹4.99 lakh price for the fully loaded Climber variant, combined with digital purchase benefits and low ownership appeal, could attract first-time buyers, young professionals and families in Guwahati looking for an affordable urban mobility solution.
