The launch of Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM) by the Gokula Education Foundation (Medical) marks a significant push towards industry-driven higher education as demand rises for specialised talent in artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering and technology-led business management. The new deemed-to-be university, launched in partnership with the University at Albany, is expected to begin academic operations in August 2026 with programmes focused on globally aligned STEM and management education. Industry observers say the move reflects the growing trend of universities aligning academic programmes with emerging technology sectors and evolving workforce requirements.
RISM will initially offer B.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Aerospace Engineering and Electrical Sciences, along with BBA and MBA courses. The university said its curriculum has been developed jointly with industry and academic partners, integrating internships, live projects, translational research and industry-sponsored Centres of Excellence to strengthen practical learning outcomes. The institution will also introduce a “Professors of Practice” model by embedding senior industry professionals into academic departments. According to Gokula Education Foundation (Medical), the initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world business and technology challenges.
RISM’s upcoming residential campus near Devanahalli in Bengaluru’s Information Technology Investment Region is expected to strengthen industry-academia collaboration due to its proximity to aerospace hubs, special economic zones and the upcoming Foxconn facility.
