Shopsy has launched its new AI-powered shopping app as the platform looks to strengthen its position in India’s fast-growing hypervalue e-commerce segment driven by Gen Z consumers and shoppers from tier-2 and smaller cities. The new app marks Shopsy’s shift from a conventional offers-led platform to a gamification-driven commerce model combining AI-powered personalization, video-first product discovery and reward-based engagement. Users can earn SuperCoins through games, streaks and app interactions, which can be redeemed during purchases.
The company said the platform has been designed around changing shopping patterns in India, where tier-2+ cities account for nearly 65 per cent of new online shopper growth. Gen Z consumers now contribute around 40-45 per cent of India’s e-retail market and increasingly prefer immersive, interactive and video-led shopping experiences.
Shopsy said AI-based search and personalization tools will help customers discover products based on regional preferences and vernacular browsing habits, while sellers and MSMEs will benefit from video-enabled catalogues, AI-driven listing tools and the platform’s zero-commission marketplace structure.
