Six-Member Inter-Ministerial Team Arrives in Assam to Review 2025 Flood Impact and Relief Needs

A high-level Inter-ministerial Central Team (IMCT), comprising six members from different Ministries of Government of India, arrived in Guwahati on Tuesday for a four-day on-spot assessment of the flood damages in Assam during 2025 as well as in the current year till date.
The team is led by Praveen Kumar Rai, Joint Secretary (UT), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Other team members are Mahesh Kumar, Joint Director, FCD, DoE, Ministry of Finance; Dr. SVSP Sharma, Scientist-SF, National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad; Sanjeev Kumar Suman, Director, CWC, Ministry of Jal Shakti; Prabhat Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development and Dheeraj, Regional Officer, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The Central delegation was received by the senior officials of Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of Assam, led by L. Sweety Changsan, additional chief secretary to the Assam government and Chief Executive Officer, ASDMA.
The delegation was briefed about the flood situation of the current year along with the damage details of the last year in an introductory meeting held in Guwahati.
Divided into two groups, the teams will visit the flood affected districts of the State from Wednesday till July 11.
The first team will visit the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Biswanath (Gohpur) while the second team will tour the districts of Cachar, Bajali and Chirang during the period.
Further, the delegation would share the details of the assessment with the Chief Secretary, Assam government and other senior most officials of Government of Assam at Janata Bhawan, Dispur on July 10.
The meeting was also attended by Parag Kumar Kakaty, additional secretary and additional CEO, ASDMA; Alakananda Medhi, State Project Coordinator, ASDMA; Pankaj Chamua, deputy secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department and other senior officials of the Department and ASDMA.
