Strong Skincare Sales Help L’Oréal Achieve 7.7% Q3 Revenue Growth to €11.56 Billion

The widespread adoption of GLP-1 weight-loss medications is increasingly reshaping consumer behavior within the global beauty and cosmetics industry, prompting major manufacturers to adapt their product portfolios. L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus highlighted during an investor call following the release of the company’s third-quarter financial results for the period ending September 30 that the surge in popularity of obesity treatments like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Zepbound is actively impacting skincare consumption patterns. Characterizing the rise of GLP-1 drugs as a significant business phenomenon, Hieronimus explained that the French cosmetics giant is strategically formulating dermatological solutions designed to work alongside these pharmaceuticals by directly targeting secondary side effects, such as loose skin and reduced facial volume. Often colloquially labeled as “Ozempic face,” these physical changes stem from rapid weight loss rather than a direct pharmaceutical impact on skin structure. To capture this emerging consumer demographic, L’Oréal’s innovation division, alongside brands such as SkinCeuticals, has initiated dedicated clinical trials to test targeted formulations specifically on GLP-1 users. Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, the firm’s chief innovation officer, confirmed that this expanding group represents an increasingly critical market worldwide. L’Oréal is not alone in recognizing the commercial potential of post-weight-loss skincare, as competitors like Galderma and Natura are similarly researching treatments to address skin firmness and volume loss. This strategic shift comes as L’Oréal reported solid financial performance, generating €11.56 billion in sales for the third quarter of 2026, representing a 7.7 percent increase on a reported basis and 7.2 percent like-for-like growth. Over the first nine months of 2026, total sales reached €35.34 billion, reflecting a 7.7 percent rise, supported by positive sales momentum across all four operating divisions. The Dermatological Beauty category delivered a notable 11.6 percent like-for-like expansion, while Professional Products led divisional growth at 12.4 percent, followed by L’Oréal Luxe at 5.7 percent and Consumer Products at 4.2 percent. Management noted that overall skincare momentum continued to accelerate globally, while strong consumer demand for fragrances and haircare further reinforced group revenues. By actively integrating clinical skincare solutions with health and wellness trends, L’Oréal aims to turn the physiological side effects of rapid weight loss into a sustained commercial growth driver.
