Tamil Nadu Allows Firecrackers for Only Two Hours on Diwali

The Tamil Nadu government has announced strict timings for bursting firecrackers during Diwali, allowing people to celebrate the festival with fireworks for only two hours in total.

According to an official release, residents will be permitted to burst crackers between 6 am and 7 am and again from 7 pm to 8 pm. The decision aims to reduce severe air and noise pollution while ensuring that people can enjoy the festival through safe and community-wide celebrations.

The government has introduced the restricted time slots to encourage responsible celebrations and minimise the environmental impact associated with firecracker use. People have been advised to follow the prescribed timings and avoid bursting crackers outside the permitted hours.

The authorities have also imposed restrictions on the use of firecrackers near silence zones. Areas surrounding hospitals and courts have been identified as places where bursting crackers is prohibited.

The decision highlights the government’s focus on balancing festive celebrations with public safety and environmental concerns. By limiting the period during which fireworks can be used, the administration aims to reduce unnecessary noise and air pollution during the festival.

Residents across Tamil Nadu are expected to follow the announced guidelines and celebrate Diwali responsibly. The government has emphasised safe celebrations while allowing the public a limited opportunity to enjoy firecrackers during the morning and evening hours.
