Tata AIA relaunches Vitality programme, links wellness rewards with life insurance benefits

Tata AIA Life Insurance has relaunched its Vitality wellness programme, integrating preventive healthcare incentives with life insurance protection and offering customers rewards for adopting healthier lifestyles. The enhanced programme aims to encourage sustained wellness habits, with research cited by the company suggesting that improved lifestyles could potentially add up to five years to life expectancy.

The relaunch lowers the daily step threshold for earning points from 7,500 to 5,000 and introduces Health Connect integration for improved tracking of physical activity and heart rate. Members can progress through Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, earning lifestyle benefits and potential renewal premium discounts. Partners include Decathlon, Puma, Google, FitPass and cult.fit, offering discounts on fitness products, wearables and gym memberships.

Tata AIA cited a seven-year study involving around 465,000 Vitality members, peer-reviewed by the London School of Economics, which found that moving from inactivity to an active lifestyle could reduce mortality risk by up to 57%. The company clarified that longevity benefits are indicative and individual outcomes may vary.

For Guwahati, the programme could create opportunities to expand the market for wellness-linked insurance as consumers increasingly consider preventive healthcare and long-term financial protection. Adoption will depend on customer awareness, affordability and access to participating fitness and health services.

“ The future of insurance lies in prevention as much as protection,” said SujeetKothare, Chief Business Officer – Proprietary Business, Propositions & Marketing, Tata AIA Life Insurance.

The insurer reported premium income of ₹38,164 crore in FY26, registering 21% growth over FY25.
