Team India wins five medals at Global Skills Challenge Australia, strengthens WorldSkills Shanghai campaign

Team India secured an impressive haul of five medals, including three gold, one silver and one bronze, at the Global Skills Challenge (GSC) Australia 2026, bolstering the country’s preparations for the 48th WorldSkills Competition scheduled to be held in Shanghai later this year. Held from June 23 to 29, the competition brought together nearly 600 competitors, experts, translators and officials from 16 WorldSkills member nations, including Australia, India, China, the United States, Japan, France, South Korea and Austria. India fielded a 30-member contingent comprising 15 competitors and 15 experts across 15 skill categories.

PavanBhadravatiSuresha of Karnataka won gold in Additive Manufacturing,Mausam Kumar Giri of Bihar topped the Cloud Computing category, while Vishnupriya Sunil of Delhi claimed gold in Health and Social Care. Harsh Ramesh Pawar from Maharashtra secured silver in 3D Digital Game Art, and Muskan of Haryana earned bronze in Painting and Decorating. Congratulating the contingent, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education JayantChaudhary said the medal haul reflected the dedication of India’s Skill Champions, mentors and industry partners while providing valuable exposure to global standards ahead of the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai.

The Global Skills Challenge replicated the WorldSkills assessment framework through the internationally recognised Competition Information System (CIS), enabling participants to compete under international standards and gain experience in handling real-world competition conditions. India participated in disciplines ranging from advanced manufacturing and digital technologies to construction trades, creative industries and service-sector skills, reinforcing the country’s efforts under the Skill India Mission to build a globally competitive, future-ready workforce.
