Continuing its crackdown on narcotics under the #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign, Assam Police achieved another major success with the seizure of a large quantity of contraband substances in Sribhumi district.
In a fresh anti-drug operation, Sribhumi Police recovered 20,000 YABA tablets and 14,100 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, with the total value of the seized contraband estimated at approximately ₹6.4 crore.
Police officials said the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs, leading to the interception of the illegal consignment before it could reach the market.
Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested during the operation. Authorities have launched further investigations to trace the network involved in the smuggling and distribution of the narcotics.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the successful operation, reiterating the state government’s commitment to making Assam drug-free.
The latest seizure marks another significant achievement in the state’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and dismantle narcotics networks operating in the region.
