ColdStar Logistics has marked its entry into Northeast India with the launch of a 20,000 sq. ft. multi-temperature warehousing facility in Kamrup, strengthening its presence in the country’s fast-growing Tier II markets. The new distribution centre will serve businesses in the FMCG, dairy, confectionery, processed food, healthcare and retail sectors across Assam, while also functioning as a logistics hub for the Seven Sisters region, including Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur.
The company said the facility has been designed with four temperature-controlled zones — Ambient, Tropical (+15°C to +25°C), Chiller (+2°C to +8°C) and Frozen (-20°C) — enabling seamless storage and movement of temperature-sensitive products under one roof. The warehouse is equipped with AI and machine learning-based logistics planning, predictive analytics, IoT-enabled monitoring and smart warehousing systems to ensure product integrity and support ColdStar’s “Zero Stock-Out” commitment across its supply chain. Executive Director Sameer Varma said the company’s expansion into Guwahati reflects its long-term vision for Northeast India, driven by the rapid growth of organised retail, quick commerce and food delivery platforms in Tier II cities. He said the facility will strengthen supply-chain access across the region while supporting the company’s expanding national distribution network.
In Guwahati, the investment is expected to strengthen the city’s position as the logistics gateway to Northeast India. With consumer demand rising across Assam and neighbouring states, the availability of advanced cold-chain infrastructure is likely to improve the movement of perishable goods, support organised retail expansion, enhance healthcare and food distribution, and create new employment opportunities while boosting regional supply-chain efficiency. Founded in 2011 with the backing of Tuscan Ventures, ColdStar Logistics operates 45 distribution centres across India, providing temperature-controlled supply-chain solutions to clients in the QSR, FMCG, food processing, retail, healthcare and e-commerce sectors.
