Dell, NSDC roll out five new solar skill vans to expand AI-led skilling across India

Dell Technologies and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) on Monday launched five new Solar Community Hub Skill Vans aimed at accelerating digital inclusion and future-ready workforce development across India. The initiative was flagged off by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education JayantChaudhary. Implemented by the Learning Links Foundation, the new solar-powered mobile hubs will serve communities in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra. Equipped with laptops, interactive screens, internet connectivity and AI-enabled learning tools, the vans are designed to deliver job-relevant skills, education, local connectivity and essential services directly to underserved communities.

The expansion marks the next phase of Dell Technologies’ efforts to bridge the digital divide. Going beyond basic digital literacy, the programme introduces customised skilling modules and structured employability pathways for more than 50 vocational, higher education and community institutions. The training is aligned with emerging industry demands, preparing learners for future job opportunities in a rapidly evolving digital economy. “The Solar Community Hub Skill Vans are centres of aspiration that combine clean energy, AI-enabled learning and industry-aligned skilling,” JayantChaudhary said. Dell Technologies India President and Managing Director Manish Gupta said the initiative demonstrates the impact of collaboration between government, industry and communities in creating a future-ready workforce.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of technology-driven skilling in emerging regional economies. Industry stakeholders believe similar programmes can strengthen the talent pool in the Northeast, support digital transformation efforts and improve employment opportunities for youth as demand rises for AI, technology and digital service-related skills. Since the first Solar Community Hub Skill Vans were introduced in FY23, the programme has reached 18 districts across 14 states and directly impacted 2.67 million beneficiaries. Globally, the initiative operates 63 skill vans across 12 countries, underscoring Dell Technologies’ commitment to expanding access to technology, skills and economic mobility.
