Godrej Foundation, an independent philanthropic trust, has partnered with the Ministry of Culture and architecture firm AUR to develop the Godrej Pavilion at the India Biennale 2026, marking its participation in the 108-day cultural event scheduled from December 4, 2026, to March 21, 2027, at Purana Qila, New Delhi.
The MoU covers the pavilion’s design, construction and use. Scheduled to launch on December 4, the temporary exhibition space will follow the theme ‘Shadows of the Arches’, inspired by Mughal architectural elements. Its low-impact, reusable construction approach aims to demonstrate how contemporary design can coexist with protected heritage structures.
The Biennale, themed ‘Tat Tvam Asi — You Are That’, will bring together contemporary art, design and architecture across Delhi. The pavilion will host exhibitions, talks and workshops, opening with ‘Three Measures of the World’, curated by Sharan Apparao and Sayantan Maitra Boka, exploring the earth, sky and the space between them.
Godrej Foundation CEO Omar Momin said the pavilion would combine traditional Indian architectural influences with contemporary design to promote Indian art. Ministry of Culture Secretary Vivek Agarwal described the partnership as an important contribution to cultural dialogue and public participation.
In Guwahati, the initiative could generate wider interest in contemporary art, architecture and cultural exhibitions, offering opportunities for Northeast India’s creative professionals, artists and cultural institutions to engage with national platforms and explore future collaborations.
