Indian High Commissioner assures steps to simplify visa processing for Bangladeshis

Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi has assured the Indian Media Correspondents’ Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB), that efforts are underway to simplify visa processing, particularly for patients seeking medical treatment in India.

The assurance was given during a courtesy meeting between Trivedi and a 10-member IMCAB delegation at the conference hall of the Indian High Commission in Baridhara on Thursday, October 22, at 11.30 am. The delegation was led by IMCAB president Shaheen Chowdhury and general secretary Masum Billah.

During the discussion, Trivedi said the High Commission was examining difficulties faced by applicants in securing Indian visas and considering special initiatives to facilitate medical travel. He also said efforts were underway to identify the reasons for delays in obtaining direct submission slots after applicants complete their online visa applications, expressing hope that the issue would be resolved soon.

The High Commissioner emphasised that increased travel between India and Bangladesh would strengthen friendship and people-to-people ties between the two countries. He also enquired about the health of each IMCAB member present at the meeting.

Other delegation members included Basudev Dhar, Kuddus Afrad, Mir Afroz Zaman, Abu Ali, Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, Nirmal Chakraborty, Zakir Hossain and Monir Hossain. Gokul VK, First Secretary of the Indian High Commission, was also present.
