Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) has strengthened its position in India’s premium SUV segment after the all-new Nissan TEKTON entered the India Book of Records for the largest convoy of a single-model four-wheeler to reach Leh, underscoring the company’s 75-year global SUV heritage.
A convoy of 60 Nissan TEKTON SUVs completed a five-day expedition spanning more than 700 km from Chandigarh to Leh via Manali and Zangla through the Shinku La Pass. The journey climbed from 1,053 feet in Chandigarh to 16,703 feet at Shinku La before reaching Leh at 11,480 feet, testing the SUV across highways, mountain roads, high-altitude terrain and changing weather conditions. Driven by media personnel and industry experts, the expedition showcased the vehicle’s capability, durability and engineering performance in real-world driving environments.
Commenting on the achievement, Nissan Motor India Managing Director SaurabhVatsa said the record celebrates Nissan’s 75 years of SUV excellence while reinforcing customer confidence in the TEKTON’s capability across India’s diverse terrains. He said the milestone reflects the company’s commitment to delivering premium SUVs engineered for performance and reliability.
Manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai plant under the “One Car, One World” philosophy, the TEKTON is built in India for domestic buyers as well as export markets, including the Middle East and Africa. The premium SUV features Japanese craftsmanship, advanced safety technologies, Google built-in with access to more than 200 apps through Google Play, and a 100 per cent turbocharged engine lineup. The model is available at introductory ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 10.49 lakh for the Turbo T160 range and Rs 14.99 lakh for the Turbo T280 range. Bookings are open across Nissan’s retail and digital platforms, while customer deliveries began on July 20.
In Guwahati, the record is expected to boost Nissan’s visibility among premium SUV buyers, particularly as demand for capable vehicles continues to grow across Assam and the Northeast. Industry observers believe the TEKTON’s proven performance on challenging Himalayan terrain, combined with its competitive pricing and export-grade engineering, could strengthen Nissan’s position in the region’s expanding SUV market, where customers increasingly value durability, advanced technology and all-terrain capability.
