Two suspected cadres of the banned Ulfa-I were apprehended by police in Jagun town of Tinsukia district.
They have been identified as Chiyan Asom and Manoj Asom.
Police intercepted the duo after they entered Assam via Jairampur in Arunachal Pradesh from Myanmar in a Maruti Swift.
Based on specific intelligence inputs regarding their movement, Assam Police laid a trap and apprehended them at Jagun Bazaar.
During the operation, police reportedly recovered two AK-56 assault rifles, six magazines and grenades from their possession.
The arrested cadres have been taken to Tinsukia for further interrogation and investigation.
