Naga People’s Front Central Farmers’ Wing Kicks Off Appreciative Inquiry Tour in Nagaland

The Central Farmers’ Wing (CFW) of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) officially kicked off its “State-Wide Appreciative Inquiry Tour” on Saturday. The tour is set to continue across Nagaland till May 25, 2026. Addressing a media conference during the launch programme, CFW president Y. Vikheho Swu said the initiative aims to directly engage with farming communities and understand the realities and challenges faced by farmers at the grassroots level. He stated that the tour seeks to appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of farmers and agri-entrepreneurs who have been contributing towards sustainable livelihoods and rural economic development across the state, both with and without government support.

The farmers’ wing said the team would be visiting various districts to interact with farmers, village communities, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and officials from agriculture and allied departments. The CFW also acknowledged the role of the government and agricultural institutions in supporting farmers through the distribution of seeds, saplings, farming equipment and the development of crop clusters to improve productivity and profitability.

Highlighting major concerns within the farming sector, the wing pointed to the ageing farming population, declining youth participation in agriculture, and the growing impact of climate change on traditional farming practices. The organisation stressed the need for climate-resilient crops and sustainable farming methods to ensure food security and strengthen the agricultural sector in Nagaland. The launch programme was attended by CFW officials including president Y. Vikheho Swu, general secretary Chikokhayo Kezo, and secretary and administrator Nguto Assumi.
