Overflowing Rivers Disrupt Rail Services Across Upper Assam & Northeast

Rail services in Upper Assam and the Northeast are severely impacted due to the Dikhow River overflow, which has submerged railway tracks near Simaluguri. The Northeast Frontier Railway has halted operations on key sections in the Tinsukia Division, affecting thousands of passengers. This disruption has led to the cancellation, diversion, or short-termination of several major trains, including the Rajdhani Express and others.

Divisional Railway Manager Parag Katre announced at a press conference in Tinsukia that restoration work is advancing rapidly. Teams across engineering, signaling, and operations are engaged in dewatering, repairing damaged tracks, strengthening embankments, and restoring signaling systems.
