Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in partnership with the Department of Electronics, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, has opened registrations for the 27th edition of the TCS Rural IT Quiz, targeting students from smaller towns and districts across India.
The quiz, part of Bengaluru Tech Summit 2026, will combine online tests, virtual rounds and in-person competitions for students of Classes 8 to 12. Schools within city corporation limits will not be eligible. The competition will cover artificial intelligence, cloud computing, business and emerging technologies, along with IT applications across banking, education, robotics, media, sports, gaming and entertainment.
The programme, recognised by the Limca Book of Records as India’s first IT quiz for rural students, has reached more than 22.4 million students since its launch in 2000. Its previous edition drew over 5.62 lakh participants from 28 states and two Union Territories.
Eight regional finals will lead to the national finals in Bengaluru in November. Regional winners and runners-up will receive Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 gift vouchers, while the national winner and runner-up will receive TCS education scholarships of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000. Registrations close on September 30, 2026.
